When is bird control wire the right solution?

Bird control wire is used in places where pigeons regularly land on edges and ledges. By tensioning thin wires above the landing surface, it becomes difficult for pigeons to land comfortably or remain there. The system is particularly suitable when a discreet form of bird control is required. The thin wires are barely visible from the ground, helping to preserve the appearance of façades and buildings as much as possible.

Where can bird control wire be installed?

Bird control wire can be installed on various edges and ledges of buildings, such as:

• façade edges and projecting building elements.
• roof edges and parapets.
• window sills and window frames.
• beams and other narrow landing areas.
• façades and buildings where a discreet solution is required.

By adapting the positioning and number of rows to the surface to be protected, the system can be installed to suit the specific situation.

How does a bird control wire system work?

The bird control wire system consists mainly of stainless steel components. The thin nylon-coated stainless steel wire is tensioned between wire posts and secured with wire crimps. Micro springs ensure that the wire remains at the correct tension. The wire posts are installed at a maximum distance of 150 cm from each other. The wire is tensioned with a micro spring at every second post, allowing a maximum of 3 metres of wire to be tensioned per spring. Depending on the substrate, the wire posts can be installed by drilling and using an anchor plug or by screwing or bonding them with a plastic mounting base.

How do you install bird control wire for effective pigeon control?

For effective pigeon control, it is recommended to install at least two rows of bird control wire. The first row is positioned approximately 20 mm from the edge, with a wire height of approximately 100 mm. The second and subsequent rows should have a wire height of approximately 130 mm. The stainless steel bird control wire is secured using loops. Wire crimps are used for this purpose and are fixed to the wire with special crimping pliers. When the system ends at a vertical wall, the wire can be secured to the wall using an anchor plug and split pin.

Which components do you need for a bird control wire system?

A complete bird control wire system consists of various components:

• nylon-coated stainless steel bird control wire.
• wire posts in different lengths.
• micro springs for maintaining the correct wire tension.
• wire crimps for creating fixing loops.
• anchor plugs or plastic mounting bases for fixing the wire posts.
• split pins for terminating the wire at vertical walls.
• crimping pliers for securing the wire crimps.

Thanks to the different wire posts and fixing options, the system can be adapted to the substrate and the required installation method.
