Temporary Rainwater drainage

Temporary Rainwater drainage is a flexible and durable solution for draining excess rainwater during construction and renovation phases. In a country such as the Netherlands, it can be considered an indispensable application. The hose – also referred to as a temporary rainwater drain, temporary downpipe or flexible downpipe – prevents water nuisance around façades, foundations and work areas, even before the permanent installation has been completed.

When do you use temporary Rainwater drainage?

Temporary Rainwater drainage is particularly valuable during short- or medium-term projects such as renovations, refurbishments, new-build projects or temporary situations. Because the hose can be cut to size and easily secured with hose clamps, installation can be completed quickly and no permanent modifications are required.

Professionals regularly choose temporary Rainwater drainage when removing or postponing permanent rainwater drainage systems, in order to prevent façade contamination and water damage. The hose is made from robust PE film, is lightweight and can easily be reused whenever required.

Why choose temporary Rainwater drainage?

Avoid water nuisance, leaks and contamination during construction or renovation work with temporary protection. It can also serve as an interim solution until the permanent rainwater drainage system has been installed.

The use of a flexible Rainwater drainage hose offers the following advantages:

  • quick to use: cut the flexible downpipe to any required length and install it without special tools – ideal for keeping projects on schedule.
  • reusability: once installed and undamaged, the PE hose can be used repeatedly on multiple projects.
  • reliable drainage capacity: diameters range from 70–100 mm, sufficient to drain water even during heavy rainfall.
  • cost-effective: inexpensive to purchase and suitable for short-term projects, without the need for costly permanent systems such as zinc or PVC rainwater drainage.

These characteristics make temporary Rainwater drainage an indispensable solution for construction professionals seeking temporary protection against rain without excessive cost or complexity.

Installation advice and application

Tilmar supplies the TT-HWA temporary Rainwater drainage system in Ø80 mm and Ø100 mm PE hose, supplied on a 100 m roll. The hose is wear-resistant and suitable for single or repeated use. In combination with the TT-HWA hose clamp, the hose can be securely attached beneath the gutter outlet without drilling or gluing. After use, it can be rolled up and stored for the next project.

Installing temporary Rainwater drainage requires little preparation. Attach a hose clamp beneath the gutter outlet, unroll the hose to the desired length and secure the lower end – for example with a driven stake – to prevent movement in the wind. This helps prevent façade contamination and water seeping into the ground. After use, the hose can be removed, rolled up and reused or stored for future projects.
