Cavity wall ventilation grilles

Cavity wall ventilation grilles are installed in brick exterior walls at the location of vertical (perpend) joints. The cavity needs to be lightly ventilated to maintain a proper moisture balance in the cavity. In most cases, the cavity wall ventilation grilles are built in as the brickwork is laid, but there are also versions that can be fitted afterwards in so-called open perpends. At Tilmar you’ll find both options.

Features and benefits

The grilles, also known as joint vents or perpend vents, are 1 cm wide, almost 10 cm deep and available in various heights to match brick heights. You can also opt for plastic versions, available in grey, white or black. This choice is often made for cost reasons. The stainless steel joint vents, however, are a fantastic way to truly enhance façades, both in plain stainless steel and in any desired RAL colour to match the facing bricks.

The joint vents keep out dirt and pests, provide an attractive visual finish to the façade and allow the cavity to be ventilated optimally.

Application

Masonry exterior façades, especially brick façades, are fitted with joint vents. But Tilmar also supplies special wall sleeves with grilles for rendered or natural stone façades. They are generally installed just above ground level and below the eaves, as well as above and below horizontal breaks (such as window frames). On the product pages you’ll find guidelines to help you determine the exact locations and quantities more specifically.
